4 Delhi Hospitals Receive Bomb Threat Emails Following School Alerts; Police Investigation Ongoing

Emails threatening bombs were sent to four hospitals in Delhi on Tuesday: Deepchand Bandhu Hospital, Dada Dev Hospital, Hedgewar Hospital, and Guru Teg Bahadur (GTB) Hospital. Two days earlier, twenty hospitals, the airport, and the capital’s office of the Northern Railways’ CPRO received similar threats, according to officials. Thus far, nothing questionable has been discovered.

Officials from the Delhi Fire Service reported that these four hospitals had received bomb threats via email. According to the officials, the fire department, local police, bomb disposal squad, and explosives detection team raced to the scene to carry out searches. A DFS representative stated that the influx of calls started around 10.45 a.m.

Back-to-back calls from Delhi hospitals

At 9.45 a.m., Deep Chand Bandhu Hospital in Ashok Vihar, north Delhi, was the first hospital to call. At 10.55 a.m., the second call originated from Dada Dev Hospital in Dabri, southwest Delhi; at 11.01 a.m., it came from Hedgewar Hospital in Farsh Bazar, east Delhi; and at 11.12 a.m., it came from GTB Hospital in Shahdara, east Delhi. “The checks are being done by the bomb disposal unit and the police. We have additionally carried out two inspections. As of right now, nothing unusual has been discovered, according to Hedgewar Hospital security officer VK Sharma.

A hospital doctor told him that he had received a letter regarding an explosion at the hospital. This is the fourth time in the past month that threats of this nature have been made against different locations, including schools. This discovery occurs two days after bomb threats via email were sent to over six government hospitals in Delhi and to Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport. Delhi Police claim that on May 12, an unknown account sent an email threatening to blow up the IGI Airport. The message contained a threat that there was an explosive device on the property.

Two government facilities, the Sanjay Gandhi Hospital in Mangolpuri and the Burari Government Hospital, got similar communications. An inquiry into the case has been initiated by the Delhi Police. Aruna Asaf Ali Govt Hospital in Rajpur Road, Hindu Rao Hospital of Malka Ganj, Deen Dayal Upadhyay (DDU) Hospital in Hari Nagar, Guru Teg Bahadur (GTB) Hospital in Dilshad Garden, and Dada Dev Hospital in Dabri are among the hospitals on this list. These emails threatening bombs are almost two weeks after over 150 Delhi-NCR schools received bomb threats that alarmed parents. In a formal statement, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) called the email a “hoax.”.

Bomb threats to Delhi hospitals

At 3:30 p.m. on May 12, police got information about the threat from Brurari Hospital. Following that, complaints were received from a number of other hospitals in the city, and police teams were sent out; however, as of right now, “nothing suspicious” has been discovered, according to officials. According to a senior Delhi Fire Services official, the following hospitals reported bomb threats: Deen Dayal Upadhyay, Dada Dev Hospital in Dabri, Aruna Asaf Ali Government Hospital in Civil Lines, Burari Hospital, Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital, Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital, Bara Hindu Rao Hospital, Janakpuri Super Speciality Hospital, and Deen Dayal Upadhyay.

According to a police officer, the local police also examined Guru Nanak Dev Eye Hospital, Gramin Swastha Prashikshan Sansthan in Najafgarh, and ILBS in Vasant Kunj because they received the emails as well. The officer said that although the CPRO building at Connaught Place’s State Entry Road was inspected, nothing out of the ordinary was found there. He stated that the inspections at several hospitals continued until late at night.

“The Security Operations Control Center at IGI Airport received a threat email regarding an explosive device on the grounds. Improved security protocols and increased safety measures have been implemented. A lawsuit has been filed. As of right now, no suspicious objects have been discovered, according to Usha Rangnani, Deputy Commissioner of Police (IGI). The official stated that around 6:00 p.m., a threat email was received by the airport authorities.
