BJP Replaces Brij Bhushan Singh with Son in Kaiserganj Ticket Decision
The Bharatiya Janata Party awarded a ticket to his son, Karan Bhushan Singh, on Thursday and dismissed sitting Kaiserganj MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, who has been accused of sexual harassment by female wrestlers.The Uttar Pradesh Wrestling Association’s president is Brij Bhushan’s younger son, Karan Bhushan. In the Gonda district, he also serves as the chairman of the cooperative bank in Nawabganj. Braj Bhushan, a six-term MP and the former head of the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI), was accused of sexual harassment by a number of the nation’s most well-known wrestlers; thus, there was a lot of tension surrounding his seat this time around.
Due to accusations of sexual harassment while serving as the WFI president, a number of female wrestlers, including medalists, staged protests against the BJP leader and called for his arrest. Sakhi Malik and Bajrang Punia, two wrestlers, staged a lengthy sit-in at Jantar Mantar, asking that Bhushan be held accountable. The Delhi Police then filed a complaint against Bhushan on June 15, 2023, under the IPC’s Sections 354 (assault or criminal force to women with purpose to insult her modesty), 354A (sexual harassment), 354D (stalking), and 506 (criminal intimidation). On July 20, 2023, nevertheless, he was given bail.

Six-term Member of Parliament Bhushan also manages over fifty private schools in and around his constituency. For almost a decade, he presided over the Wrestling Federation of India. The Lok Sabha seat of Kaiserganj will cast votes in the fifth phase of the election on May 20. 2019 saw 5,81,358 votes cast for Brij Bhushan. While Vinay Kumar Pandey of the Congress received 37,132 votes, Chandradev Ram Yadav of the BSP received almost 3.19 lakh.
