Kangana Ranaut Interview: ‘Joining Politics Had Been on My Mind for Past Few Years
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has nominated actor Kangana Ranaut from Mandi in Himachal Pradesh to compete in the Lok Sabha elections. Ranaut started her campaign with a roadshow that started in Banoha and ended in her hometown of Bhambla. The Bollywood star discussed her priorities and her choice to enter politics in an interview with Dar Ovais.
Why did you decide to join politics?
My thoughts throughout the past few years have centered on getting involved in politics. I was so successful because of others, and now I had to battle for their well-being. The time has arrived to take up a more significant war for the people, moving past problems of pay inequality and women’s empowerment. It made sense for me to unite with the BJP, as I needed a bigger platform for this.
Who is your role model?
I respect Sadhguru Ji for inspiring me to become a karma yogi and Swami Vivekananda for instilling in me a healthy sense of nationalism. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is another person who has impacted my thoughts, viewpoint, and way of thinking.

What will be your priorities for Mandi?
Sincerely, at this point, we have been tasked with winning by the largest possible margin. After that, I will be able to speak up on behalf of Mandi. Every department, including roads, hospitals, and schools, has a lot of work to perform. I’ll represent Mandi’s citizens in Parliament and stand up for their rights.
