BJP Hits Back at Kharge’s Letter, Calls Rahul Gandhi a ‘Failed Product’ After He Labels PM Modi as Naive
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) responded to Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge’s letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday.
In the letter, Kharge raised concerns about violent and “extremely objectionable” remarks made by ruling alliance members directed at Rahul Gandhi. Kharge pleaded with the Prime Minister to act to punish these leaders.
JP Nadda, the leader of the BJP, responded angrily, calling Rahul Gandhi a “failed product” and accusing the Congress of attempting to “polish” him in an effort to salvage his political career.
Nadda also emphasized that despite repeated criticism of Prime Minister Modi by Congress leaders, including Rahul himself, Kharge’s letter was an attempt to defend Gandhi.
Kharge’s Letter to PM Modi
Mallikarjun Kharge had written to PM Modi earlier on Tuesday, demanding that individuals who make divisive remarks face consequences. He emphasized that such language may have severe repercussions and was detrimental to Indian politics.
“I would like to draw your attention to a matter that directly affects democracy and the Constitution,” stated Kharge in a letter. The Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, has been the subject of some extremely offensive, violent, and unpleasant comments.”
“It is regrettable that some leaders from your party and allies have resorted to violent language, which could harm the future of our democracy,” Kharge said, expressing concern. For instance, the BJP-ruled state of Uttar Pradesh’s Minister of State for Railways referred to the Leader of the Opposition as “the number one terrorist.”
Kharge went on to list further worrisome risks. “A Maharashtra politician from a party that supports your government says that anyone who cuts off the Leader of the Opposition’s tongue will be rewarded with ₹11 lakh.” In addition, a former Delhi BJP MLA has promised to “perform the dirty work” for Rahul Gandhi’s grandmother.”
