BJP Criticizes Rahul Gandhi Over Comments on Kolkata Rape and Murder Case
The Bharatiya Janata Party launched a scathing attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday over his remarks to reporters, not to distract him when asked about the Kolkata rape and murder case. Gandhi had visited his parliamentary constituency Raebareli and met the family of a Dalit youth shot dead.
When the reporters asked him about the tragic incident in Kolkata, Gandhi responded, “I am here for this matter. You don’t want to raise this issue. I know you want to distract me. You don’t want to give space to the voices of Dalits. I have come here to protect the Dalits and raise their issues,” ANI quoted as saying, PTI reported. He said, “I won’t allow any distraction.”. I will talk on the Kolkata case in days to come.”
BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonwalla attacked Gandhi’s comments, terming them as “shocking.” Poonawalla said, “It is shocking beyond imagination that when asked about the RG Kar Medical College case, Rahul Gandhi says don’t ask me about this, it is a distraction.”. This kind of attitude towards the issue that has shaken the conscience of the country .Is the Supreme Court indulging in distraction? How dare he call this a distraction?
