Bangladesh Captain Aims to Bring Pakistan Series Winning Magic to India

Bangladesh Captain Aims to Bring Pakistan Series Winning Magic to India

The Bangladeshis are scheduled to play the Indians in two Test matches, with three T20 Internationals. The first Test series begins on September 19 this Thursday in Chennai.

Not having won any Test match against India, Bangladeshi captain Najmul Hossain Shanto oozes a newly found air of confidence and determination, primed by his recent success in Pakistan.

Historic, in the sense that Bangladesh had never beaten them in a Test series. Bangladesh thrashed Pakistan, beating them by 10 wickets in the first Test at Rawalpindi, then a six-wicket win in the second Test to take a 2-0 series win.

Now going into their series against table-toppers of the World Test Championship 2023-25, India, Shanto is all eager to carry the belief and a winning attitude that got them across the line in Pakistan to their series against India.

Expressed in one word: belief. It’s a great feeling when you win. These are the moments one should enjoy. I don’t think one such moment has ever come in Bangladesh team’s history.

Cricketers look for references. Now we have one. We know that we can win abroad.” Shanto said in an interview with ESPN Cricinfo, pinpointing what just clicked in Pakistan.

Shanto said he is not worried about the series result, but will like to keep that belief going on victory. “The next time we play, I don’t know about the result, but we will surely have the belief that we can win.

I mentioned this in the press conference on the first day that records are meant to be broken. It was from my belief after seeing how hard the players worked,” he signed off.
