Bangalore CCB Busts Nigerian Woman with ₹10.5 Crore MDMA Haul, Hunt on for Syndicate

Bengaluru, India, June 17, 2025 – The Central Crime Branch (CCB) anti-narcotics wing in Bengaluru made a major drug bust, catching a 25-year-old Nigerian woman with 5.3 kg of MDMA crystals worth ₹10.5 crore. The operation near Rajanukunte village has exposed a growing drug network in the city. Here’s what happened.
How the Bust Went Down
The police acted fast:
- On June 10, Inspector Rakshith AK got a tip about a drug deal in Tarahunase village, 6 km from Rajanukunte.
- By afternoon, a team led by Assistant Commissioner Mahananda HK spotted the woman waiting with a suspicious bag.
- After a brief standoff, she admitted the bag held MDMA, meant for a buyer in Bengaluru.
The raid was a big win.
Who Was Caught
The suspect’s story is complex:
- Akinwunmi Princess Ifeoluwa, known as Princess, came to India in 2021 on a student visa, planning to study in Telangana.
- When college plans fell through, she worked as a hairdresser in Delhi, struggling to make ends meet.
- A contact, known only as Asa, lured her into smuggling drugs to Bengaluru by bus.
Her choices led to her arrest.
Charges and Next Steps
The law is moving swiftly:
- Princess faces charges under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and the Foreigners Act for visa violations.
- Police are hunting for Asa and others tied to the drug ring, using her phone records to track leads.
- A local said, “We’re glad police are cracking down—drugs hurt our youth.”
The probe is far from over.
Bengaluru’s Drug Problem
The city faces a challenge:
- In September 2024, CCB seized ₹2.9 crore in drugs, including MDMA and LSD, from seven peddlers, one a foreign national.
- Other busts have uncovered synthetic drugs like amphetamine, showing Bengaluru’s role as a drug hub.
- An X post read, “Bengaluru’s fighting hard against drugs, but these networks keep growing.”
The fight is ongoing.
Police Plan and Public Call
Authorities are stepping up:
- Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh said the bust is part of a larger effort to break international drug networks.
- Surveillance, tip-offs, and raids are being ramped up to catch suppliers and dealers.
- Police urged residents to report odd activities, promising tough action against traffickers.
The city aims to stay vigilant.
