At Least 7 Dead as Naxalites Blow Up Police Vehicle in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur District
An improvised explosive device (IED) transporting police officials was put up by a group of Naxalites in the Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh on Monday, resulting in a deadly strike. According to local officials, at least seven individuals have died in the explosion, although the number might rise as more details become available. P Sundarraj, the Inspector General of Bastar, said that more details are pending. The explosion happened on the Bedre-Kutru Road.
This strike comes after a string of conflicts in the area between security personnel and Naxalites. In the jungles of south Abujhmaad, which is located near the boundary between Narayanpur and Dantewada district, a shootout broke out on Saturday night between Naxalites and a combined security squad. An ongoing anti-Naxalite operation included the incident. According to early accounts, four Naxalites were slain; a fifth body was eventually found. Sannu Karam, the head constable of the Dantewada DRG, was sadly killed in action during the operation.

In collaboration with District Reserve Guard (DRG) teams from the districts of Narayanpur, Dantewada, Jagdalpur, and Kondagaon, Special Task Force (STF) troops conducted the anti-Naxal operation in the South Abujmarh forest region. Three Naxalites were slain in a similar confrontation earlier this week on Friday in Kandeshar village in the Gariaband district of Chhattisgarh. Additionally, weapons were found at the scene of the incident. Security officers in the area are keeping a close eye on the worsening scenario as the violence rages on.
