Ashneer Grover Advocates ‘Hire Fast, Fire Fast’ Over Lengthy Onboarding and Notice Periods

According to Ashneer Grover, the founder of BharatPe and Third Unicorn, everyone should abide by the maxim “hire fast, fire fast” and does not support drawn-out recruiting procedures or notice periods. Ashneer Grover claimed in a podcast that employers hire candidates for much too long before deciding to give them time to establish themselves. According to Ashneer Grover, this requires a lot of time.

“Hire fast, fire fast is basically what I understand about hiring—a notion that many people disagree with. Right now, employing a worker takes a lot of time and involves going through several stages. It goes without saying that the candidate is acting appropriately. A candidate’s best self-salesperson moment is when he tries to market or advocate for himself. Ultimately, you won’t know if he will work or not until you assign him his assignments,” he stated.

Ashneer Grover shared his experience, saying, “People can sell themselves really effectively sometimes. I’ve come to realize that after three months of searching for the right individual, we have to wait for the two months the candidate is on notice. As of right now, we have dedicated about six months to this role. We want to give the candidate the same amount of time to establish himself once he joins.”

“So from six months, it is now one year,” he continued. You have now been performing that position for a year at an opportunity cost. You realize after a year that he is not a good fit. The best course of action, in my opinion, is to use local optimization. If you determine within a week or fifteen that you need a candidate, you can quickly bring him on board. Analyze his work more quickly. Furthermore, figuring out who works and who doesn’t is rather easy. Hire quickly, and fire quickly.”
