Arvind Kejriwal Petitions Delhi Court for Insulin in Tihar Jail, Hearing in Progress
Arvind Kejriwal, the chief minister of Delhi, filed a petition in Rouse Avenue Court on Friday requesting that insulin be supplied to the inmates of Tihar jail. At 2:00 PM, the court began hearing Arvind Kejriwal’s petition. Arvind Kejriwal has asked for permission to see his doctor every day for fifteen minutes via video conference to discuss his acute diabetes and unstable blood sugar levels. According to Live Law, he also wants to let his wife participate in and stay at the video conference. The chief minister of Delhi claimed that since being placed in judicial custody, his blood sugar levels have been dangerously fluctuating because of acute diabetes, which puts his health at serious risk.
This development coincides with Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena’s request on Thursday for the director general of prisons to deliver a factual report about the AAP’s claims that Arvind Kejriwal was not receiving insulin while incarcerated in Tihar. The Delhi cabinet minister, Atishi, who was denied home-cooked meals and insulin while in jail, claimed there was a plan to kill the chief minister, who was taken into custody by the Enforcement Directorate in connection with the excise policy case. The charge was denied by the prison administration. This led to the L-G’s order.
“Shri VK Saxena @LtGovDelhi has expressed grave concern over reports based on statements by ministers and AAP leaders alleging non-provision of insulin to Hon’ble CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal, who is in jail, and purported “conspiracies” against him,” the Raj Niwas stated. “DG Prisons has been asked by Shri Saxena to deliver an accurate and comprehensive report on the matter in a day.

Raj Niwas stated in a series of posts on X that “LG has guaranteed that no laxity with regards to CM’s health will be tolerated, even though prisons are a transferred subject that comes directly and entirely under the AAP Govt.” During a news conference, Atishi asserted that the chief minister’s demands for insulin had been turned down by the Tihar jail administration and that the ED and prison authorities were resisting his efforts to set up a video call with his physician.
