Army Vehicle Attacked by Terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Akhnoor: Quick Response Foils Assault

An Indian Army vehicle was shot at Monday morning in the Akhnoor area of Jammu and Kashmir. The attempt was effectively thwarted because of the soldiers’ prompt action. Army officials claim that the truck was ambushed in the Akhnoor Battal area. Luckily, no casualties or injuries were reported, and a search has been launched to find the attackers.

A recent spate of violence in Jammu and Kashmir was followed by this episode. Terrorists assaulted Army vehicles in Baramulla last week, sadly killing two troops and two civilians. The incident happened around 6km from the well-known tourist destination of Gulmarg, and the convoy was carrying civilian porters and members of a Rashtriya Rifles regiment on their way to the Nagin post in the Afrawat range. Days earlier, at a tunnel building site in Gagangir, Ganderbal, terrorists had murdered six foreign workers and a local doctor.

In retaliation, the Romeo Force of the Indian Army, along with the Special Operations Group (SOG) police, conducted a successful operation on Saturday, locating a terrorist stronghold in the Balnoi area of Poonch. With more than a dozen people killed just weeks before the Union Territory’s assembly elections, the current surge in attacks has disturbed the tranquility in Jammu and Kashmir.

Manoj Sinha, the lieutenant governor leader of Jammu and Kashmir, has criticized the violence and promised to seek equity for the innocent lives lost. As per sources, Sinha announced, “Every drop of innocent blood spilled in the valley will be avenged, and all capabilities will be used to dismantle the terror ecosystem.”

Sinha voiced concern about a “neighbor” whose ongoing meddling has fueled drug trafficking and terrorism in the area, despite the fact that its own inhabitants are suffering from widespread poverty and famine. In response to recent attacks in Ganderbal and Baramulla, Sinha stressed that terrorists have targeted infrastructure project workers, military, and civilians. “Our security forces are determined, and India’s first line of defense will carry out its responsibilities with increased alertness,” he declared.
