Stable Security Environment Along LAC and J&K

Indian Army Chief General Manoj Pande has called the situation on the Line of Actual Control (LAC) and in Jammu Kashmir “stable, yet unpredictable.” In a strategic review, General Pande spoke of current work to keep the peace in these strategic areas while maintaining combat preparedness for any development that may occur out of these tribulations.

Firm Stance Along LAC

Responding to apprehensions regarding the possibility of bilateral border disputes with China, General Pande assured that the Indian Army is geared up for all situations at the LAC. “The situation remains stable but unpredictable,” he stated. The Army Chief highlighted the need for diplomacy and talk, which continues to play a vital role in the finalization of issues in eastern Ladakh.

Over the last 3 years, the Indian Army has strengthened its infrastructure on the LAC to facilitate swift troop and equipment deployment. General Pande pointed out the importance of maintaining this swing while simultaneously maintaining close attention to Chinese activity.

Jammu & Kashmir: Stability Amid Change

Moving on to Jammu Kashmir, Gen. Pande spoke of the security that has been established by continuous counterterrorism operations. Nevertheless, he warned that the area is still risky because there are new risks.

Efforts to strengthen intelligence networks and local cooperation have played a pivotal role in reducing infiltration attempts along the Line of Control (LoC). The Army Chief also reiterated the resolve to neutralize, to the extent possible any threat posed by anti-Indian elements.

Preparedness as the Cornerstone

The operational preparedness of the Army continues to be at the core of its strategy. General Pande described current efforts to reform weapons, modernizing infrastructure, and using advanced technology. He also highlighted the emphasis on troop welfare, which contributes to morale and operational efficiency.

Regular training exercises have been done by the Indian Army to replicate situations on the LAC and LoC. General Pande noted that these exercises are vital in maintaining combat readiness and ensuring seamless coordination across commands.

Diplomatic Efforts Continue

Besides combat readiness, India has also been diplomatically working with China to pull down the situation along the LAC. Discussions at both military and diplomatic levels have been held to resolve the problems in eastern Ladakh.
