AR Rahman’s Divorce From Saira Banu: Lawyer Addresses Connection to Mohini Dey, Says ‘There Is…’

AR Rahman’s Divorce From Saira Banu: Lawyer Addresses Connection to Mohini Dey, Says ‘There Is…’

After several years of marriage, AR Rahman and his wife Saira Banu made the unexpected revelation that they were divorcing. Rumors of a potential link between the two incidents were sparked when Rahman’s bassist Mohini Dey disclosed her separation from spouse Mark Hartsuch shortly after the news surfaced.

Vandana Shah, Saira Banu’s attorney, vehemently denied the reports, emphasizing that Rahman’s divorce is unrelated to Mohini. “There is no connection,” she told ETimes. This choice was made independently by Saira and Mr. Rahman.

Insights Into the Separation

The couple’s maturity and respect for one another were highlighted in Vandana Shah’s description of the cordial split. “Every lengthy marriage has its ups and downs, and I’m thrilled that if it has ended, it has done so with dignity. Rahman and Saira will continue to encourage and support one another,” she stated.

Shah said, “Both of them are extremely genuine, and this decision was not taken lightly,” in response to a question regarding the cause for the break. You wouldn’t describe it as a sham marriage. She added that there haven’t been any conversations regarding money issues yet.

A Joint Statement and Rahman’s Poetic Response

Through their attorney, the couple confirmed their separation and requested privacy in a joint statement. “Mrs. Saira has made the difficult decision to separate from her husband, Mr. AR Rahman, after many years of marriage,” the statement said. Notwithstanding their intense love for one another, the couple has discovered that their conflicts and challenges have caused an unbridgeable rift that neither of them feels capable of overcoming at the moment.

Following this, AR Rahman took to X (formerly Twitter) to share a heartfelt poetic message. He wrote:

“We had wanted to make it to the big thirty, but everything seems to have an end. The weight of wounded hearts may make even God’s throne shake. Even though the parts might not find their home again, we look for meaning in this shattering. We are grateful to our friends for their generosity and for protecting our privacy during this delicate time.
