Apple iPhone 16 Launched in India with AI Features, 48MP Camera: Price and Full Specifications

It’s now official: the iPhone 16 Series launches, bringing some of the most exciting upgrades to happen with the regular lineup of iPhones in years.

With Apple rolling out improvements across the board, both the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus are going to offer users an improved experience, especially in areas such as artificial intelligence, gaming, and performance.

Now, Apple has confirmed that the iPhone 16 series will indeed carry those much-hoped-for AI capabilities that it had sorely lacked in the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus. Setting up the iPhone 16 series as an entirely valid upgrade for anyone wanting to progress ahead with next-generation iPhone technology.

AI Comes to the iPhone 16 Series

The iPhone 16 and 16 Plus come with an AI powerhouse inside them, thanks to the new A18 chipset. While this chipset, according to the company, sports an 8-core neural engine tasked with making the general work of artificial intelligence run more smoothly, Apple claims that Siri is going to get faster, smarter, and more responsive, offering contextual responses when talking to it—almost human.

The integration of AI is not only limited to Siri; it’s expected to power a host of new features across the iOS ecosystem for giving users an intuitive and personalised experience. Not all of these features will be available immediately but are believed to roll out with the iOS 18.1 update, which Apple has promised will bring even more AI-driven enhancements to the iPhone experience.

That’s a significant leap in AI capability, bringing high-end tech to the more affordable versions. Apple democratises AI with the iPhone 16 series by making sure people at every price can enjoy smarter and faster technology that self-adapts to their needs.

Bigger and Better Displays

The iPhone 16 sports a 6.1-inch display, and the iPhone 16 Plus gets an even larger 6.7-inch screen. Neither of these displays features Apple’s ProMotion technology—a feature that allows up to 120Hz refresh rates—but they do include Dynamic Island, a design feature introduced on last year’s models, which makes for more dynamic and fun notifications and alerts.

For that, the screens are Super Retina XDR displays to ensure colour vibrancy, deep black, and that signature sharpness Apple users have grown to love.

These upgrades to the display, combined with the advanced neural engine, make the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus excellent both for work and for play. Whether one is scrolling through social media, playing games, or watching videos, it would feel way more immersive and fluid.

Gaming on iPhone 16

Apple has also taken a serious step into gaming with the release of the iPhone 16 series. These models were capable of running, for the first time in the history of iPhones, the so-called ‘AAA’ games, which had hitherto been solely reserved for high-performance gaming consoles and computers.

With an A18 chipset and revised heat management, gamers can experience high-level gaming without the annoying lag and overheating issues seen in predecessors.

Add to this the larger screen and superior battery life of the iPhone 16 Plus, and you have in your hands a great high-end phone for mobile gamers, easily running taxing titles without breaking a sweat.

To the gamers seeking an edge, AI integration could mean smart in-game assistance, swift controls, and an overall interactive gaming experience. Gaming forays by Apple show how it intends to make the iPhone a go-to device among gamers who want high-performance experiences on the go.

Powerful Camera System

As has been the trend, the iPhone 16 series does not disappoint when it comes to the camera department. Both the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus feature a 48MP main sensor now standard in flagship cameras from the technology giant Apple.

This sensor is capable of clicking stunning photos with a great amount of detail, even in low-light shots. Besides the main camera, there is a 12MP ultrawide lens that allows users to click wider shots without compromising on the quality of the images.

On the front is a 12 MP front camera that houses FaceTime and selfies. Apple’s Face ID technology stays intact to keep your phone secure, while at the same time offering a fast and fluid way of unlocking it.

It also enables several AI-powered enhancements in the front cameras, like better portrait modes and improved video quality while on video calls, making it ideal for the iPhone 16 series for content creators and selfie enthusiasts.

USB-C and faster charging

One of the most eagerly awaited upgrades across the entire lineup is a shift in charging to USB-C. After years of persisting with the Lightning connector, Apple finally bit the bullet and moved to the more universally accepted USB-C standard.

That means faster charging and compatibility with a greater range of accessories. The iPhone 16 series also supports up to 25W wireless charging with a Qi charger. So, whether at home or on the move, you will be able to top up your battery quickly.

Price in India and Availability

The iPhone 16 series will start selling in India from September 20, 2024 onwards. The iPhone 16 is priced at Rs 79,990, whereas the starting price of the iPhone 16 Plus will be Rs 89,900.

The iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus are available in 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB storage variants to store all your photos, videos, apps, and more.

This indeed is a very good pricing strategy that proves Apple is committed to providing high technology at competitive prices for Indian consumers.

From the added AI features, bigger screens, and advanced gaming capabilities, the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus are the promising value-for-money devices in their respective price segments.

What to Expect from iOS 18 and Beyond

Though the iPhone 16 series is going to ship with iOS 18, it isn’t until there’s an iOS 18.1 release that these devices will show their full capabilities.

Much more AI capability will be added with this update—that is, these phones will become wiser and more sensitive to the needs of their master. Further Siri integration, better battery management, and smarter notifications have been tipped off by Apple as some of the new features that make life easy on the end.
