Apple Announces iPhone 16 Launch Event: What to Expect from Glowtime on September 9

Apple has begun sending out some formal invitations to the all-but-official iPhone 16 launch event to be held on Monday, September 9. It is referred to as the Glowtime keynote. This will take one through the upcoming iPhone 16 lineup—and is made-ineligible, potentially with product reveals that are yet to come, like AirPods 4 and the Apple Watch Series 10.

For viewers in India, the event will actually kick off at 10:30 PM IST and can be viewed on both Apple’s YouTube channel and their very own Events page. Apple has scheduled an in-person event where Tim Cook himself, along with the crew, will present the new products and innovations.

The latest of these is the “Glowtime” teaser that already teases much of the key role of Apple Intelligence during the whole event. Precisely, the invite is teasing some new AI thing, which probably includes a relocated Siri with a kick and loaded with MQTT and Apple HomeKit integration. Although a major update to Siri AI is not due until early in 2025, with iOS 18, ChatGPT will be integrated following Apple’s recent deal with OpenAI that articulated its commitment at WWDC 2024.

There’s rumor that the non-pro version of the iPhone 16 series might feature a design refresh, at least around its camera module. The A-series hardware will be new only for the Pro versions; this means that the addition of best-in-class AI capabilities will find its way into both the Pro and non-Pro versions, something lacking in the iPhone 15.

The iPhone 16 series will also have to contend with the new range of Pixel 9 smartphones as well as the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold range, which will also pick up on AI technologies in the newest releases. Apple is likely to highlight its AI advancements, but it may perhaps take a little longer to showcase features of that kind in full.
