Anupam Kher’s Image on Fake Notes in Gujarat: Actor Reacts with ‘Kuch Bhi Ho…’
Bollywood actor Anupam Kher responded to a strange incident in which fake banknotes with his image were discovered in Gujarat. The Ahmedabad Police seized counterfeit currency valued at Rs 1.60 crore recently. The notes had Kher’s image on the Rs 500 note rather than Mahatma Gandhi’s, and the printing read “Resole Bank of India” rather than the accurate “Reserve Bank of India.” Since then, social media users have been sharing videos of these phony notes.
Anupam Kher responded to the news by posting a video report about counterfeit money on social media and jokingly saying in Hindi, “Lo kar lo baat.” Why is my picture on the 500 rupee note instead of Gandhiji’s? Anything is possible!
The notes were found, so the story goes, when Mehul Thakkar, the proprietor of a bullion business, was conned out of Rs 1.60 crore. Police were notified by Thakkar that he was approached by people who wanted to buy 2100 grams of gold. An employee was dispatched to transfer the gold to the Navrangpura area; in exchange, the person was given a plastic cover allegedly stuffed with cash worth Rs 1.3 crore.
The suspects then allegedly said they had to go to a nearby shop and get the last Rs 30 lakhs and left the area. When one of Thakkar’s workers discovered the fake notes later, the police launched an investigation.
