Ananya Panday’s Call Me Bae Renewed for Season 2: Actress Excitedly Announces ‘Here We Come’ – Watch Now
Recently, Ananya Panday made waves in the over-the-top (OTT) industry with her Prime Video debut series, Call Me Bae. For her depiction of Bella, a privileged girl who loses her fortune and must start over in life, the actor received high praise.
A strong ensemble cast of Gurfateh Pirzada, Varun Sood, Niharika Lyra Dutt, Vihaan Samat, Muskan Jaaferi, Lisa Mishra, and Vir Das is also a part of the series. Officially, Call Me Bae’s second season has been renewed due to its increasing popularity.
The wonderful news was announced by Ananya on Instagram, with the message, “Our day couldn’t get any bae-tter!” Bella’s upcoming new season is sure to make us swoon once more. #CallMeBaeOnPrime; S2 is being worked on.
The show’s many Bollywood allusions helped it swiftly become a fan favorite. Karan Johar even described Bella as a Gen Z version of Poo, the legendary character played by Kareena Kapoor in Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, before the show’s debut. Ananya made it clear that she didn’t aim to carry on Poo’s legacy, though.
Ananya stated, “I don’t think we are trying to touch or even come close to what Bebo (Kareena Kapoor) did because she’s a literal icon and queen,” in an interview with Instant Bollywood. Her creations have left a legacy. This is our way of honoring her. I believe we would all be overjoyed if Bae were even 1% as endearing as Poo.
Bae is a “glorious Gen Z 2.0 derivative” of Poo, according to Karan Johar, who also said that if Rohan and Pooja had a daughter, she would be named Bae. Bae picks up where Poo left off, introducing the younger generation to her own style.
He clarified that although Poo’s persona started out charming and lighthearted, she ultimately gave Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham more emotional depth—something Call Me Bae also aims to do.
Call Me Bae centers on Bella, a young woman from South Delhi who, after losing her riches, moves to Mumbai to pursue a career as a writer. Her progress through the media industry is chronicled throughout the series while retaining her distinct sass and style.
