Amitabh Bachchan Reveals His Property Plans: Equal Division Between Shweta and Abhishek, Decided with Jaya Bachchan

In a revealing interview from 2011, Amitabh Bachchan discussed his approach to managing his estate and his relationship with his children, Shweta Bachchan Nanda and Abhishek Bachchan. The iconic actor made it clear that his assets would be divided equally between his children, reflecting his commitment to fairness.

“I had decided early on that I would not differentiate between my children,” Amitabh said in an interview with Rediff. “When I pass away, whatever I have will be divided equally between Shweta and Abhishek. Jaya and I agreed on this long ago. There is a common belief that a daughter is ‘paraya dhan’ and leaves for her husband’s home, but in my eyes, she is our daughter with the same rights as Abhishek.” Interestingly, last year, Amitabh gifted his Rs 50 crore bungalow, Jalsa, to Shweta Bachchan Nanda.

Amitabh also touched on his unique relationship with his son, Abhishek. He described treating Abhishek more like a friend than a son. “Even before Abhishek was born, I decided that if I had a son, he would be my friend rather than just a son. The day he started wearing my shoes, he became my friend. I treat him as a friend now, though I am still concerned about him as a father, offer him advice, and look after him in that capacity.”

Recently, Amitabh Bachchan and his family were highlighted in the Hurun India Rich List 2024 as the fourth richest Bollywood entity, with their net worth estimated at Rs 1,600 crore. Although Amitabh has yet to comment on this accolade, it underscores the family’s prominence and success in the Bollywood industry. Over the past two years, the Bachchans have made headlines for their various property acquisitions.
