Amit Shah Criticizes Mallikarjun Kharge’s Remark on PM Modi After Health Scare, Calls It ‘Bitter Display of Spite’
Union Home Minister Amit Shah criticised Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge’s comments regarding Prime Minister Narendra Modi during a political rally on Monday, taking a sarcastic swipe at Kharge. Kharge was charged by Shah for “unnecessarily” bringing up the Prime Minister’s health issues.
In the course of addressing the throng during a poll rally on Sunday, Kharge almost passed out. The 83-year-old politician, who had regained his calm, said something startling: he wouldn’t pass away before witnessing PM Modi removed from office.
Amit Shah responded negatively on X (previously Twitter), writing, “Congress President Shri Mallikarjun Kharge Ji exceeded all standards of decency in his speech yesterday.” He unduly linked PM Modi’s health problems to himself, claiming he wouldn’t pass away until Modi was removed from office.
Shah shot back at Kharge’s comments, saying, “This shows how much hate and fear these Congress people have of PM Modi.” He implied that Congress leaders’ contempt for Modi is what drives them.
Shah sent his best wishes for Kharge’s well-being despite the criticism, adding, “We all pray that Kharge Ji has a long, healthy life, including Modi Ji and me. May he live to see 2047 and see the establishment of a Viksit Bharat.”
What did Mallikarjun Kharge say?
During the demonstration, Kharge suffered a “syncopal attack”—a fainting. But he soon returned to his address, announcing, “I am eighty-three years old. I’m not going to pass away that quickly. Until PM Modi is removed from office, I refuse to die.
Kharge later apologized for his brief stop, stating, “I had to sit down because of dizziness, even though I wanted to talk.” Please forgive me.

Kharge went to the district hospital in Kathua for a check-up, and the physicians there verified that he had experienced a fainting episode. They also assessed him for excessive perspiration.
