Union Home Minister Amit Shah Firmly Declares CAA Won’t Be Repealed, Considers Rules Mere Formalities Amidst Opposition Criticism

The Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) will never be rescinded, according to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and the BJP-led government will never compromise on it. In an interview, the top BJP leader declared, “This is our sovereign right to ensure Indian citizenship in our country; we will never compromise on it, and CAA will never be taken back.” The opposition parties criticized the controversial Citizenship (Amendment) Act, or CAA, when its rules were made public earlier this week. The home minister responded that even the opposition is aware of its slim prospects of winning power when questioned about the remarks made by the INDIA bloc leaders regarding the repeal of the law if they were to win office.

“Even the INDI coalition is aware that it will not gain control. Under the direction of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the BJP introduced CAA. It cannot be reversed. To prevent those who wish to repeal it from getting a chance, we will raise awareness of it throughout the entire country,” Shah declared. He ridiculed the opposition’s claims that the controversial law is being used by the Bharatiya Janata Party to cultivate new voters. “There is no other job for the opposition. They have a track record of acting one way while saying another. But Prime Minister Modi’s and the BJP’s histories are distinct. What PM Modi or the BJP say is indelible. “Every assurance that Modi gave is realized,” stated Shah.

Shah refuted the accusation that the BJP is exploiting CAA for political purposes by highlighting the opposition’s parallel objections to important decisions about national security. They even asserted that airstrikes and surgical attacks had political advantages. Thus, is it not appropriate for us to combat terrorism?” Shah questioned. “The timing of the CAA notification is not a question,” the minister said in response to inquiries about it. “All opposition parties, including Rahul Gandhi, Mamata, or Kejriwal, are indulging in the politics of lies.”

Shah restated that the BJP has made its intentions clear over the CAA well in advance. He cited the party’s 2019 manifesto, which stated that it was bringing in the CAA and giving Indian citizenship to refugees from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, and Pakistan. “In 2019, the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill was endorsed by the two offices of Parliament, satisfying the BJP’s pronouncement. Due to the coronavirus, it was delayed. The BJP had already completed its objective even before the party won the majority of the vote.” “Rules used to be only formalities. Timing, political gain, or loss are irrelevant. The opposition is now attempting to use appeasement politics to increase the size of their support base. I would like to ask that they be made aware of. “CAA is the national law, and I have said almost forty-one times in the last four years that it will be implemented,” the speaker declared.
