Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav today claimed that the privileges of Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla are being sliced and the Resistance would need to battle for him, drawing a sharp reaction from Home Clergyman Amit Shah. The Kannauj MP was tending to Lok Sabha during the discussion on the Waqf (Change) Bill when he said, “Your privileges and our freedoms are being diminished. I had let you know that you are the appointed authority of a vote based system. I have heard that a portion of your freedoms are being grabbed and we would need to battle for you.” The Association Home Clergyman rose to answer Mr Yadav. “This is an affront of the Seat. The freedoms of the Speaker don’t have a place with the Resistance, however to the entire House. Try not to talk indirectly. You are not the defender of the Speaker’s freedoms,” Mr Shah said.

Mr Birla later told Mr Yadav that he and different individuals from the House should not remark on the Seat. “This is my assumption, no private comments ought to be made on the Seat,” he said.
