Emotional Moment: Akash Deep Touches Mother’s Feet After Receiving Test Cap in India vs England 4th Test
At the JSCA Stadium in Ranchi, during the fourth India vs. England game, Akash Deep made his Test debut. Shortly before Friday’s toss, India head coach Rahul Dravid gave Test cap to Akash. Due to workload management, Jasprit Bumrah was rested from this match and was substituted by the right-arm pacer. The 313th Test cricketer from India is now Akash Deep.
As the other Indian cricket players patted him on the back, captain Rohit Sharma gave skipper Akash Deep a passionate embrace after the great Rahul Dravid gave him his hat. Akash Deep followed Sarfaraz Khan’s lead and headed straight home to his family following the cap ceremony. He was spotted stroking his mother’s feet to ask for her blessings before hugging her while his family members expressed their gratitude to God in a moving moment. After that, Akash Deep posed for pictures with his family.

In this series, Akash was the fourth cricketer from India to receive a Test cap. In the Vizag Test, Rajat Patidar made his debut first. In the preceding Test in Rajkot, Sarfaraz Khan and wicketkeeper Dhurv Jurel were awarded caps. Mukesh Kumar, Akash’s teammate from Bengal, lost out to him for a position in the Indian XI. The management had essentially chosen to give Bumrah a rest following the Ranchi encounter, hence the 27-year-old was added to India’s team for the last two Test matches. In the first three Tests of this series, Bumrah bowled with all of his might.
Who is Akash Deep?
In the England Lions vs. India three-match series, Akash Deep was outstanding. Two of the right-arm pacer’s 12 wicket hauls in the three unofficial tests came from four-wicket stands. “Who can hit the bat hard and hit the top of off stump regularly,” was how Graeme Swann put him. Before becoming a broadcaster during the Test series, Swann was a member of the England Lions’ support staff. At 23.58, Akash Deep has a first-class average. The right-arm bowler, a native of Bihar, was born in Dehri and has claimed 103 wickets in 30 matches. He has also represented the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Indian Premier League.

Only five other Indians showed up for practice on the eve of the Test, so he had a lengthy batting session before bowling full pace with his Bengal teammate Mukesh Kumar on Wednesday at the nets. About Akash Deep, the home side’s batting coach Vikram Rathour stated, “Anybody who gets into the Indian team has to be a special cricketer.” He (appears to be) a very skilled bowler with great success in domestic cricket. He bowls with good line and tempo, and he looks great.”
