Air India Flight to New York Diverted to Delhi Amid Bomb Threat Alert

A bomb threat reported on Monday morning necessitated the rerouting of an Air India flight originating from Mumbai and destined for New York to Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport, as per information provided by a news agency. Following its departure at approximately two o’clock in the morning, the aircraft was promptly redirected to Delhi, where it remains currently grounded. In order to ensure the safety of both passengers and crew members, all established safety protocols are being meticulously observed.

As stated by a senior law enforcement official, “all routine safety protocols are being rigorously enforced to protect the passengers and crew aboard, and the aircraft is presently stationed at Indira Gandhi International Airport.” Authorities at Mumbai airport received a message on X (previously Twitter) containing a bomb threat, according to reports. The plane was decided to be diverted after the alert was forwarded to security services in Delhi.

“Flight AI119 operating from Mumbai to JFK on October 14 received a specific security alert,” stated an official statement from Air India. The flight was rerouted to Delhi per the directives of the government’s security regulatory body. Our ground crews have made sure there has been as little disruption as possible for all passengers, who have safely departed and are currently at the Delhi airport terminal.

This event occurred only a few days after another Air India Express flight from Tiruchirappalli (Trichy) to Sharjah experienced a mid-air technical malfunction soon after takeoff. To burn fuel and lower weight before making a safe landing, the aircraft had to circle the skies several times. The airline substantiated that the malfunction stemmed from deficiencies in the landing gear and hydraulic systems.

The judicious decision-making demonstrated by the aviators and crew resulted in the safeguarding of 141 passengers’ lives through the successful prevention of an impending catastrophe. MK Stalin, the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, commended the aviators for their prompt discernment and scrupulous administration of the crisis.

“Subsequent to the identification of a technical anomaly, the aircraft performed a precautionary circuit to diminish fuel and weight prior to executing a successful landing,” articulated a representative from Air India Express. In order to allow passengers to continue their journey, an alternate aircraft is being prepared while the root of the problem is thoroughly probed. The safety of its passengers and staff is Air India’s top priority, and the airline treats both types of occurrences with utmost concern for passenger welfare and protocol.
