Bansuri Swaraj’s Inclusion on ED Lawyer’s List a Mistake, Supreme Court Informed Amid Fresh Row

Bansuri Swaraj’s Inclusion on ED Lawyer’s List a Mistake, Supreme Court Informed Amid Fresh Row

The AAP leader Saurabh Bharadwaj questioned why Bansuri Swaraj, the BJP’s nominee for the Lok Sabha election 2024, was listed among the ED lawyers in the paper about Sanjay Singh’s case, a day after Singh was granted bail in the excise case. Advocate Zoheb Hossain, an ED attorney, stated before the Supreme Court on Wednesday that it was an unintentional error, as reported by Bar & Bench. Bansuri Swaraj, a Delhi BJP candidate and the daughter of former Sushma Swaraj, the minister of external affairs, did not show up for the central agency.

On Tuesday, the ED did not contest Sanjay Singh’s bail application, so the Supreme Court granted him bail. The Supreme Court said that Sanjay Singh’s release would be contingent upon terms set by the lower court and that his bail would not be used as a model for future similar cases. A new argument started when Bharadwaj questioned the reason behind the mention of Bansuri Swaraj’s name as an ED attorney in the case. In the screenshot that Bharadwaj also posted, Bansuri’s name was listed as an ED lawyer with those of Suryaprakash V Raju, Mukesh Kumar Maroria, Zoheb Hossan, Annam Venkatesh, Kanu Agarwal, and Arkaj Kumar.

It has come to my attention that Bansuri Swaraj is identified as an ED lawyer. In addition to being a Lok Sabha candidate, Bansuri Swaraj is a BJP spokeswoman. Thus, your people are defending the ED,” Bharadwaj remarked.

The Aam Aadmi Party was greatly relieved that Sanjay Singh had been granted bail in the Manish Sisodia and Arvind Kejriwal case, considering the current circumstances. The BJP said that the bail proved the independence of the court. “He was granted bail, and the ED did not object. This demonstrates our judiciary’s independence. Our democracy is unique in this regard. Union minister Hardeep Singh Puri declared, “The courts are independent.”

Countering the BJP’s position, Saurabh Bharadwaj stated that the ED was forewarned by the Supreme Court that if they refused bail, the high court would rule on the matter. “The top court told the ED that facts are against you because you have not presented any evidence against Sanjay Singh,” said Bharadwaj.
