Rajat Kumar, Rescuer of Cricketer Rishabh Pant, Attempts Suicide; Girlfriend Dies
Rajat Kumar, the same young man who saved Indian cricketer Rishabh Pant from being killed in December 2022, is alleged to have shot himself along with, 21-year old Manu Kashyap. The event occurred on 9th February, 2025, at village in muzaffarnagar district of Uttar Pradesh, whovernas Buchha Basti. Ms. Kashyap succumbed on account of complication due to treatment, while on the other hand Mr. Kumar is still in a critical condition at a neighboring hospital.
Background of the Incident
Reports indicate that together they took a poisonous substance as both families, due to their standing as related partners in a family relationship, disapproved of their relationship. According to allegations, their respective families had also carried out the arranged marriages on them, due to the caste difference, and accordingly the pair had decided to take to this extreme measure as well.
Heroic Act in 2022
In December 2022, Rajat Kumar, as well as local [N]ishu Kumar, received national accolades for saving Rishabh Pant from death by a car accident. Law enforcers are meanwhile starting a continuous inquiry into how the incident took place and are seriously taking into account Ms. Kashyap’s family’s complaint. They have not yet got Mr. Kumar‘s statement after his convalescence.
