Sunny Deol Confirms Role in Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana, Draws Inspiration from Avatar for Visual Impact
Ramayana, the next movie starring Nitesh Tiwari, is one of Bollywood’s most anticipated productions and is creating a lot of talk. “Ramayana is a long project because they’re trying to make it the way Avatar and Planet of the Apes movies were made,” Sunny Deol said in a recent interview with SCREEN, confirming his involvement in the movie. It involves all those technicians. Regarding how it must be and how the characters should be portrayed, the author and director are rather explicit. Even though he didn’t say if he would be portraying Lord Hanuman, his presence heightens the mystery around the casting of the movie.
“You will also get to see the special effects that will make you believe that it (the events unfolding) has very genuinely happened rather than making one feel that these are special effects,” Sunny Deol said, underscoring the film’s visual impact. Sincerely, I do not doubt that it will be fantastic and that everyone will adore it. The film compares to Hollywood blockbusters that are renowned for their visual realism in an attempt to present the epic story of Ramayana using state-of-the-art special effects.
Ranbir Kapoor said at the Red Sea Film Festival in Jeddah that he had finished the first phase of filming Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana, saying, “It has two parts.” I’ve completed Part 1’s filming and will shortly begin Part 2. I am very humbled to play Ram just to be a part of that tale. For me, it’s a dream. It’s a film that educates about husband-wife and family interactions, which are essential to Indian culture. Adding to the already impressive cast, Ravi Dubey has announced his part as Laxman in the movie.

The film has generated significant anticipation with a leaked photo of Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi on set, which quickly went viral on social media. Ramayana, produced by Namit Malhotra and directed by Nitesh Tiwari, is set to be released in two parts, with the first scheduled for Diwali 2026 and the second to follow in 2027. The film aims to set a new benchmark for visual storytelling in Bollywood, featuring state-of-the-art special effects and a compelling narrative that brings the ancient epic to life.
