‘Total Anarchy’: Congress Leaders Accuse Police of Blocking Delegation from Visiting Riot-Hit Sambhal

Uttar Pradesh Congress leaders accused the state police on Monday of keeping their team from traveling to Sambhal, the site of the unfortunate deaths of four persons in suspected police shootings. On November 24, a mob physically opposed a court-ordered survey of a nearby mosque, which led to the murders. The visit was announced by the Congress as part of an effort to gather information and evaluate the situation.

Aradhana Mishra’s Allegations of Police Blockade

According to Congress politician Aradhana Mishra, police had been stationed outside her Lucknow home, preventing her from making the scheduled visit. Mishra called the situation “total anarchy” and expressed her annoyance, wondering if this was an instance of law and order. “Unfortunately, a delegation going for fact-finding is being stopped,” she told ANI. Ajay Rai Receives Police Notice

The head of the Uttar Pradesh Congress, Ajay Rai, was also ensnared in the police barricade. Citing worries about the tranquility and communal sensitivity of the area, he was given a warning telling him not to travel to Sambhal. “You should cooperate in the public interest and postpone the proposed program so that the order passed by the District Magistrate, imposing Section 163 BNSS, is not violated,” the notification said, taking into account the peace and communal sensitivity in Sambhal district.

Samajwadi Party Faces Similar Blockade

A team from the Samajwadi Party (SP), an ally of Congress, was also prevented from entering the area plagued by violence on Sunday. Akhilesh Yadav, the leader of the SP, was incensed by this action and charged that the BJP administration was impeding peace efforts. Yadav asserted that political tensions in the area were being exacerbated by the BJP government’s obstruction of attempts to bring about social harmony.
