Eknath Shinde Backs BJP’s CM Decision; Aaditya Thackeray Slams Delay as “Pure Anarchy”

Eknath Shinde Backs BJP’s CM Decision; Aaditya Thackeray Slams Delay as “Pure Anarchy”

Shiv Sena leader and acting chief minister Eknath Shinde declared that the BJP parliamentary party will select Maharashtra’s next chief minister today. “This government is the people’s government,” Shinde told the reporters, underscoring his support for the BJP’s choice. The ultimate decision will be made by the honorable prime minister and home minister. Don’t worry; the BJP MLAs will be meeting tomorrow. Following the Mahayuti alliance’s resounding victory in the Assembly elections, Shinde, who traveled to his hometown of Satara on Friday, denied rumors that he was unhappy with the BJP’s bid for the position of chief minister. He ascribed his visit to post-election exhaustion and reaffirmed that he and the Shiv Sena will completely support the BJP’s choice of leader.

Mahayuti’s Resounding Victory and BJP’s Claim

The BJP emerged as the biggest party with 132 seats in the latest races, while the Mahayuti coalition won 230 of the 288 gathering seats. Eknath Shinde of the Shiv Sena stressed that he won’t challenge the choice, referring to the BJP’s solid presentation and the Sena’s restricted impact because of Ajit Pawar’s NCP supporting the BJP’s CM guarantee. The BJP then, at that point, announced its expectation to run for the position. Chandrashekar Bawankule, the leader of the Maharashtra BJP, expressed that the swearing-in ceremony for the new organization will be held on Thursday in Azad Maidan in Mumbai. Former chief minister Devendra Fadnavis is the leader, albeit the party has not yet declared its decision for chief minister.

Opposition Criticism Over Delay

The opposition has harshly criticized the delay in naming the chief minister, especially Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray. Thackeray accused the BJP of treating Maharashtra with disrespect and called the postponement an “insult” to the state. On X (previously Twitter), Thackeray stated, “It is pure anarchy to unilaterally declare the swearing-in date without staking claim to form the government and showing numbers to the Governor.” He further claimed that the EVM had been tampered with, referring to the outcomes as a “mandate of the ECI.”

According to Thackeray, President’s Rule would have been in effect by now if the opposition had prevailed. Opposition parties appear to be subject to different rules. Amid continuing political rumors and accusations, the choice of the chief minister is still a crucial issue as the BJP-led coalition gets ready to assume control of Maharashtra.
