Chhattisgarh: 10 Maoists Killed in Sukma Encounter, AK-47 Rifles and Weapons Recovered

At least ten Maoists were slain Friday in the Sukma district of Chhattisgarh’s jungles following a clash with police forces during a significant security operation. Korajuguda, Dantewada, Nagaram, and Bhandarpadar were all affected by the conflict. After intelligence reports verified the existence of Maoist insurgents in the region, the District Reserve Guard (DRG) and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) began the operation.

Details of the Operation:

The encounter was verified by Sunderaj P, Inspector General of Police, Bastar range, who also mentioned that the troops had been provided with actionable intelligence on Maoist operations. IG Sunderaj stated that the search is still underway and that “we are yet to identify the bodies of the Maoists recovered.” AK-47s, SLR rifles, and INSAS rifles are among the weaponry that authorities have found at the scene and think the Maoists utilized during the conflict.

Ongoing Search:

As the teams remain active in the region, further information is anticipated as the security forces continue to search through the thick forests. One Maoist was killed earlier on Thursday in the Malakangiri district of Odisha after a similar gunfight between security personnel and Maoists. The existing security situation in the space was further exacerbated by the gunfire that broke out at the line between Odisha and Chhattisgarh.

Chhattisgarh’s Battle Against Maoists:

This event follows a new gathering between Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai. The two chiefs discussed how to manage the state’s Maoist insurgency. CM Sai emphasized the government’s resolve to eradicate the Naxalites and maintain harmony in the impacted areas.

When CM Sai said, “In the last 11 months, nearly 200 Naxals have been killed, and around 600-700 have surrendered,” he reiterated the state’s efforts to reach the government’s 2026 target of eliminating the Naxals. “We are on track to making India a Naxal-free country by March 2026,” the chief minister said following his meeting with the Union Minister. In cooperation with federal troops, Chhattisgarh’s aggressive actions are viewed as crucial steps towards stabilizing the state and lessening Maoist influence.
