Vikrant Massey’s The Sabarmati Report Declared Tax-Free in Madhya Pradesh by CM Mohan Yadav
On Tuesday, Madhya Pradesh’s government declared that the movie The Sabarmati Report, which explores the 2002 Godhra train fire, would be exempt from taxes in the state. The decision was approved by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, who urged broad audience participation and emphasized the significance of the movie in revealing historical facts.
“The Sabarmati Report is an excellent film. In addition to personally watching it, I have encouraged ministers, MLAs, and MPs to follow suit. At a press conference in Bhopal, Yadav said, “More people will be able to discover the truth about this tragic chapter if it is made tax-free.
Film Details and Political Reactions
Vikrant Massey, Ridhi Dogra, and Raashii Khanna play important parts in the Dheeraj Sarna-directed movie. Based on the actual events surrounding the burning of the Sabarmati Express at Godhra, which claimed 59 lives and caused widespread rioting in Gujarat, the film was produced by Balaji Motion Pictures and co-produced by Amul V. Mohan and Anshul Mohan.
In his remarks, Prime Minister Narendra Modi called the film a revelation of truths masked by “fake narratives.” Speaking on X (previously Twitter), Prime Minister Modi commended the movie for bringing attention to one of the most embarrassing incidents in the country and said that false information can only last so long.
BJP Accuses Opposition of Historical Manipulation
Vishvas Sarang, the cabinet minister for Madhya Pradesh, praised the film, saying it revealed a concerted effort by the Congress to damage Gujarat’s reputation internationally after the Godhra event. Sarang said, “The movie proves that Congress and opposition parties distorted history to defame the majority community and mislead society.”
He stated that the BJP will collectively view the film with party workers and the public to comprehend its message.
Congress Criticized for Political Narratives
BJP leaders, including Chief Minister Yadav, charged that the Congress was using the Godhra event for its own political ends. Yadav claimed that during the crisis, Gujarat’s dignity was protected by then-chief minister Narendra Modi.
The Sabarmati Report seeks to expose the reality behind the tragedy and the myths surrounding the Godhra train burning disaster, which continues to rank among India’s most contentious incidents.
