Zeeshan Siddique, Son of Baba Siddique, Joins Ajit Pawar’s NCP; Set to Contest from Bandra East

Son of the late Maharashtra minister Baba Siddique, Zeeshan Siddique has formally joined the Ajit Pawar-led Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) faction. He vehemently disputes the accusations that he voted against the party in the Maharashtra legislative council elections, which led to his expulsion from Congress in August.

Zeeshan thanked them, saying, “My family and I are having a very emotional day. I appreciate Sunil Tatkare, Praful Patel, and Ajit Pawar’s faith in me during these trying times. I’ve received a nomination for Bandra East, and I’m sure I can win the seat again with the help of the populace.”

The 32-year-old leader won the Vandre East (Bandra East) seat in 2019 by defeating Shiv Sena candidate Vishwanath Mahadeshwar, a former mayor of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation. However, the Shiv Sena (UBT) has been given the seat by a recent seat-sharing agreement within the Maha Vikas Aghadi alliance, and Varun Sardesai, Uddhav Thackeray’s nephew, has been proposed as their candidate.

Zeeshan is expected to earn a lot of help in the body electorate following the terrible loss of his father. On October 12, Baba Siddique, 66, was shot and killed outside his son’s Bandra office. With an end goal to decide the inspiration driving the death, specialists have confined 14 people and are investigating various potential outcomes, for example, contract killing and business competition.

A well-known politician, Baba Siddique represented Vandre West until 2014 after filling in as a Congress MLA for Vandre from 1999 to 2009. He recently changed his allegiance to Ajit Pawar’s NCP group. Zeeshan Siddique’s political destiny in Bandra East will be closely monitored before the polls, as he has carried on his father’s legacy.
