India Triumphs Over Bangladesh in 2nd Test: A Remarkable Win Despite Rain Delays and Outfield Challenges
India completed a 2-0 series sweep on Tuesday after they defeated Bangladesh by an amazing seven wickets in the second Test match played in Kanpur. Three bowlers who grabbed three wickets apiece to dismiss Bangladesh for a meager 146 runs: Jasprit Bumrah, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Ravindra Jadeja shaped the contest. Yashasvi Jaiswal scored his second half-century of the game as India went on to defeat a modest 95-run target.
Attained in just two and a half days—that is, seven sessions—this incredible victory is sure to go down as one of India’s greatest. India showed tenacity and skill to achieve the victory in the World Test Championship cycle, even though there were major rain delays that threatened to cost the home team six vital points.
On Monday, Day 4, when play resumed, the result remained unclear. But India’s batting regained control and launched a determined attack. With just 34.4 overs to declare their first innings total of 285/9, they gained the necessary momentum to upset Bangladesh. India put Bangladesh back in to bat with a 52-run lead after setting records for the quickest scores of 50, 100, 150, 200, and 250 in a single Test innings. To secure a tie, the visiting team had to bat at their very best.
The team with the upper hand in the end was Team India. The centurion of the previous innings, Mominul Haq, was dismissed by Ashwin early on. Shadman Islam of Bangladesh and captain Najmul Hossain Shanto put up a brief fight, scoring 55 runs together for the fourth wicket. But Shanto was dismissed for a careless reverse sweep off Ravindra Jadeja, which caused the Bangladeshi batters to make a number of bad shot choices.
Following his dismissal of Litton Das for just one run, Jadeja caught Shakib Al Hasan, who was out for a duck, to maintain his excellent form. Along with dismissing Mehidy Hasan, Jasprit Bumrah also left his impact by trapping Taijul Islam leg before wicket. Mushfiqur Rahim’s resistance ended when he attempted a cover drive off Bumrah, only to be bowled shortly before lunch. Rahim and Khaled Ahmed shared a passionate last-wicket partnership that prolonged the session by thirty minutes.
India’s Chase
As India started their second innings, concerns were raised regarding their strategy. Would they continue to play it aggressively like they had in the previous innings? Experts voiced skepticism, but public confidence was strong. India was the first to strike a balance between assertiveness and caution.
In the opening delivery, Rohit Sharma made a bold move by paddle sweeping for a boundary, but he was quickly caught at deep square leg. Shubman Gill also got off to a boundary at first, but a delivery that turned sharply quickly despatched him.

Then came Jaiswal and Virat Kohli. After reaching his first innings total of 72, Jaiswal rapidly scored a fifty off 43 balls, while Kohli calmed in and began to mix more forceful drives with wristy flicks. Jaiswal fell for a bait from Taijul Islam with India three runs from victory, but Rishabh Pant stepped up to hit the winning boundary, guaranteeing India’s place at the top of the World Test Championship standings.
