Iranian Spy Aided Israel in Locating and Killing Hezbollah Chief Hassan Nasrallah in Beirut
Israel’s bombing in Beirut, which destroyed an underground bunker where Hassan Nasrallah, the leader of Hezbollah, was hiding, has drawn attention to the nation’s extensive network of espionage services. Now that further information about the incident has surfaced, it is said that Israel was able to locate the terrorist after receiving a tip from an Iranian spy.
According to an article in the French newspaper Le Parisien, the undercover spy notified Israeli officials of Nasrallah’s presence in Hezbollah’s underground headquarters in the southern suburbs of Beirut. According to the information, Nasrallah was in Dahieh, a heavily populated region known for its support of Hezbollah, attending a meeting with senior members of the terrorist group inside a complex made up of six buildings.
It is reported that Israeli officials received the tip-off on Saturday afternoon, a few hours prior to the airstrike. On social networking site X, Israel Defense Forces (IDF) declared that Nasrallah had been killed at around 1.30 PM IST (11 am Lebanon time), adding that he would “no longer be able to terrorize the world.”
Road Ahead for Hezbollah
The continuous war between Israel and Hezbollah, which has long posed a security danger to the region, has reached a critical new level with the airstrike.
Additionally, reports have shown how Israel orchestrated a string of strikes aimed at deposing senior Hezbollah figures and leaving the Iran-backed organization without a leader.
The most potent political and military force in Lebanon is currently attempting to recover from serious setbacks after losing important figures who have been a part of Hezbollah since the organization’s founding in the early 1980s.
Tension in the Middle East
Following Hezbollah’s endorsement of Hamas, which launched the historic October 7 attack on Israel that claimed 1,205 lives, the majority of them civilians, Israel’s strikes became more intense. Additionally, approximately 250 individuals were kidnapped by Hamas; of them, 97 are still detained in Gaza, 33 of whom the Israeli military claims are dead.
