BJP Leader Criticizes Kangana Ranaut for Baseless Remarks on Farm Laws
Jaiveer Shergill, the BJP’s national spokesperson, has criticized party MP Kangana Ranaut publicly for her recent remarks on three farm laws. He appreciated the fact that his party had distanced itself from what he called “consistent rants and illogical statements.” “I thank the BJP for disassociating themselves from comments made by Kangana Ranaut,” said Shergill.
He stressed there should be no question of a rift between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Punjabis because of any comments by her.” I respectfully disagree with Kangana Ranaut’s remarks,” said Shergill, further adding, “It is necessary as a Sikh individual from Punjab to point out how detrimental unfounded claims she makes about Sikhs (as a community), Punjabi farmers are; this kind of baseless assertions put down hard work towards welfare-centric development, which has been carried out by PM Modiji both for Punjab and people over here.”
Wednesday saw the BJP officially separate itself from Kangana’s remarks, which it deemed controversial. The party made clear that her call for the repealed farm laws to be put back into effect was her own opinion and not a reflection of BJP policy.
Gaurav Bhatia (a BJP representative) said in an official statement: “Statements recently made by Kangana Ranaut regarding canceled agricultural legislation have gone viral on social media. We would like to make it known they’re her personal views. The BJP hasn’t empowered her to speak on its behalf, and we therefore do not support them.”

After facing criticism from many people in the BJP as well as the opposition, Kangana felt the need to clear something up. She took to X to write: “When I speak about the Farmers’ Laws, I am sharing only my views, which may not be the same as those of my political party. Thank you.” This is not the only occasion when remarks by Kangana concerning agricultural legislation have caused controversy.
In August, there was a row following comments she made implying ongoing protests by farmers could lead India down the same path as Bangladesh—unless its government intervened with force.
