BJP Slams INDIA Bloc as ‘Balatkari Bachao Alliance’ Over Badlapur Encounter Controversy
After the killing of Akshay Shinde in a police encounter; He was suspected of sexually assaulting two young girls at gunpoint inside their school in Badlapur, Thane, Following this event there was an argument and during this argument, The Bharatiya Janata Party has called the opposition alliance – which includes the INDIA bloc – the “Balatkari bachao alliance” (Save rapist alliance).
On Monday night, police shot and killed Shinde after he reportedly took a cop’s gun and began shooting. The BJP has defended law enforcement’s actions, telling how Maharashtra and Badlapur communities feel relieved – while also accusing opposition parties of mourning for rapists. Shehzad Poonawalla (BJP spox) asked: “Maharashtra, as well as Badlapur, sigh [with relief], when will these parties from INDI alliance stop shedding tears over rapists’ deaths? Is this what you call ‘rapist protection group’?”
In addition, Poonawalla slammed the Mamata Banerjee government for allegedly trying to shield other accused persons in heinous crimes such as a rape-murder at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. “Some leaders from the Congress party and INDI alliance have begun speaking in support of rapists… This is very shameful,” he said.
Backing these claims, BJP spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari said leaders from the Congress party and INDI alliance had consistently supported those accused of rape. He pointed to previous cases, including the Ayodhya gang rape where Akhilesh Yadav had purportedly tried to protect the accused. “Today when action is taken according to law in the Badlapur case, Congress leaders call it cold blooded murder,” he added — accusing them of being more interested in political gain than women’s safety.
On the flip side, Shinde’s family rejects the police version. They say he’d have been too scared to grab a weapon and insist cops are misrepresenting his character. Opposition figures also cast doubt on how Shinde died.Vijay Wadettiwar, who leads the opposition in the assembly, questioned whether police mishandled the suspects – suggesting evidence could have been tampered with: “Were they trying to destroy proof?” he asked. “Why weren’t Akshay Shinde’s hands tied when being taken by police? We want a judge to look into it.”
