Tirupati Temple Board Assures Devotees Amid ‘Beef Tallow’ Claims in Laddu Prasadam

The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) have informed worshippers that the sacred offering’s purity has been totally restored, in response to growing concerns from devotees regarding the quality of ghee used in the well-known Tirupati laddu prasadam.

The Temple Trust of Sri Venkateswara Swamy at Tirumala (TTD) affirmed on Friday night via a social media post that the holiness of the Srivari Laddu is still intact.

Srivari Laddu’s divinity and purity are untarnished at this point. The temple board declared, “TTD is fully committed to preserving the sanctity of Laddu Prasadam to the satisfaction of all devotees.”

This promise comes after the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu’s previous assertions were confirmed by the temple administration, who disclosed that inferior ghee and traces of lard (pig fat) were discovered during quality tests. The former chief minister of the YSRCP, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, has dismissed the claims as “diversion politics” and called them a “fabricated story.”

In response, the national government promised to take the required action and asked the Andhra Pradesh government for a thorough report. Pralhad Joshi, the Union minister of food, has called for a comprehensive probe into the situation.

The TTD on Friday highlighted test reports that stated that contaminants such as fat were found in the ghee samples. J Shyamala Rao, the executive officer of TTD, verified the existence of animal fat and declared that the supplier of the tainted ghee will be removed from the list of vendors.
