Kareena Kapoor Viral Reaction to ‘Shahid’ Mention at Trailer Launch: What You Need to Know

At the trailer launch of her upcoming film The Buckingham Murders, Kareena Kapoor Khan experienced an ‘oh-so-surprise’ moment when the name ‘Shahid’ cropped up. No, it wasn’t referring to her ex-boyfriend Shahid Kapoor. It was about Shahid, a film by Hansal Mehta.

On the occasion, one journalist complimented Hansal Mehta on his former body of work, principally Shahid, which won National Awards and was critically acclaimed for their sensitivity in portraying real-life situations. The reporter referred to how sensitive a subject it would be to handle in a film and asked how Shahid had set Mehta’s experience for The Buckingham Murders.

Contextually, Shahid was a 2010 film starring Rajkummar Rao in the name-sake title role of Shahid Azmi, a lawyer and human rights activist who got brutally murdered in 2010. A critical success, it won two National Awards: Best Actor for Rao and Best Director for Mehta himself.

After receiving some great reviews, The Buckingham Murders was screened last year at MAMI Film Festival and released this month. For Kareena Kapoor Khan, the film marks her first outing as co-producer with an international ensemble cast along with herself as the lead.
