ED Raids AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan’s Residence Amidst Arrest Concerns
Aam Aadmi Party leader Amanatullah Khan on Monday accused the Enforcement Directorate of ‘targeting’ him after officials reached his Okhla residence in Delhi early morning with a search warrant.
In a video shared on his X handle, Khan said, he has been cooperating with all notices sent by ED, yet a team arrived at his house to arrest him.
Khan claimed that this was done “at the behest of the dictator” and described the act as part of a general campaign of harassment against him and his fellow AAP leaders.
He asked if serving the public honestly is being regarded as a crime and voiced his frustration with what he sees as continued dictatorship.
In response, teams of Delhi Police and CRPF were stationed at the residence. The act has nailed a backlash fron several AAP leaders, includeing Manish Sisodia and Sanjay Singh, who accused the BJP-led central govt of using central agencies to target those who oppose the ruling party.
Former Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi Manish Sisodia attacked the ED move saying, “The most fundamental duty of ED now becomes to suppress those voices which are raised against BJP.”
Sanjay Singh in an X video showed Khan confronting ED officials asking them what was the reason for being at his house for if they were not there to arrest him. Singh condemned what he termed ED’s “cruelty” saying, “There is no evidence against Khan.
Khan is being investigated in a money laundering case pertaining to his tenure as chairman of the Delhi Waqf Board. Based on a Central Bureau of Investigation FIR registered in 2016, Khan was accused of making illegal appointments to non-sanctioned vacant posts in the Delhi Waqf Board, thereby causing a financial loss to the Delhi government and an illegal gain to himself.
The ED contends that through such illegal recruitments, accused Khan acquired huge “proceeds of crime” and utilised the funds to buy assets in the names of his associates.

Another AAP leader, Saurabh Bharadwaj, termed the ongoing investigation as a “matter of great shame” for the central government. He criticized the fact that with so many investigating agencies, no evidence has been found.
Saurabh Bharadwaj said the central government wants to keep Delhi’s government departments vacant and warned that as elections draw closer, pressure from these agencies is likely to mount.
