Ayodhya Man Booked for Triple Talaq After Wife Praises PM Modi and CM Yogi Adityanath
In a shocking turn of events, one Arshad of Ayodhya has been booked by Uttar Pradesh Police for pronouncing triple talaq to his wife, Maryam, after she praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for the development of the city. According to PTI reports, this happened when Maryam was having a conversation with her husband, praising the improved infrastructure and ambience in Ayodhya.
Things only went from bad to worse as Arshad, enraged by her comments, allegedly beat Maryam and even hurled hot daal (lentils) at her. The victim also accused Arshad’s family members of trying to strangulate her on the day the triple talaq was pronounced. The incident has now led to the booking of Arshad along with seven other family members.
Maryam, a native of Bahraich, married Arshad on December 13, 2023. She stated that her father had arranged the marriage between the two with mutual consent and at great expenses beyond his means.

When she praised the development done by PM Modi and CM Yogi for this city, it aroused Arshad’s anger, due to which she was sent back to her maternal home. This time too, after intervention by relatives, she returned to Ayodhya but again came under abuse, culminating into triple talaq.
A case under charges of assault, abuse, threat, the Dowry Prohibition Act, and the Muslim Women (Protection of Rights on Marriage) Act has been lodged by local police. The incident drew national attention to long-standing women’s rights issues and the illegal triple talaq practice.
