Sanjoy Roy’s Mother Defends Son Amidst Rape and Murder Accusations in RG Kar Medical College Case

In a shocking twist of events in the rape and murder of a junior doctor at the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata, the prime accused, Sanjoy Roy, has been defended by his mother. She said her son is “harmless” and does not believe he could commit the crime.

“If I had been more strict then this would not have happened. His father was very strict, but he used to worship him. With my husband’s death everything has gone wrong, my beautiful family is only a memory now,” she told India Today.

The next day, Sanjoy Roy was arrested for the crime, with evidence placing him at the scene: his Bluetooth headphones and the incriminating content located on his phone. But his mother is adamant that her son was a model student, very caring: “He used to take care of me, and even used to cook for me. You can ask the neighbours; he never misbehaved with anyone.”

She also blames that Sanjoy got habituated to alcohol after his first wife died of cancer; he was burdened with the loss and responsibilities that eventually led him to this, but he has done no crime. His mother-in-law, on the other hand, blames him for harassing his daughter and not treating her properly, accuses him of domestic violence, and demands that he be “hanged” for his crime.

While Sanjoy Roy’s mother hopes that her son is innocent and was framed for the crime, the victim’s family and public demand justice considering the heinous nature of the crime.
