Karan Johar Applauds ‘Stree 2’ as a Blockbuster Success: A Celebration of Hindi Cinema
On Tuesday morning, the day started with a warm post from filmmaker Karan Johar. He highly praised the ‘blockbuster’ success of Stree 2 by mentioning the cast and makers of the film with special gratitude, backslapping them for their success in an adulatory long post on Instagram. The actor-producer took to Instagram and shared a poster of the Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao-starrer. Co-starring Aparshakti Khurana, Abhishek Banerjee, and Pankaj Tripathi, Karan celebrated the “mega success” of the horror-comedy as one of the big moments for Hindi cinema.
He said the success of Stree 2 was not merely a victory for production house Maddock Films behind the film, but an absolute celebration of Indian cinema per se in the mainstream. Mr. Karan added that things have become all the more unpredictable with the post-pandemic audience, and yet Stree 2 managed to touch a chord through strong storytelling and a clear concept connecting with people.
He went on to praise the idea, faith, and strategy of the masterminds behind the film—Amar Kaushik, Jio Studios, and the writing team—for their genius. He said that Stree 2 is surely amongst the biggest success stories in the history of Bollywood. As he ended his note, Karan applauded everyone associated with the film from the core of his heart, mentioning how deep an inspiration he got from their work.
