Vicky Kaushal Shines as Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in Teaser for Upcoming Film “Chhaava”

Vicky Kaushal is all set to play Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in the long-awaited historical drama “Chhaava.” The teaser of the movie, which came out recently, in a small duration created a buzz and has really raised the anticipation of fans who now look forward to December 6.

Going by this, Vicky Kaushal must be very devoted because in order to seek the blessings of the Lord for his film, he visited Siddhivinayak Temple. The excitement escalated even more during the grand teaser launch of “Chhaava” in Mumbai, where further moments of Vicky had him on the terrace of a cinema hall while confetti dropped in the air to add up to the celebratory mood.

The teaser was dropped for the first time of the this untitled horror-comedy film, a moment of the powerhouse, appreciating Vicky’s power-packed and commanding persona. It introduces Vicky as Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj and warrior king and shows war scenes that are pretty intense. Action-hero looks and fiercely done action sequences seem to create an impact, stoking the anticipation for the next.

The film goes ahead to claim that comparisons with Ranveer Singh, who played the titular role in “Bajirao Mastani,” are inevitable and yet further draws to the argument that Vicky Kaushal’s character ultimately charts its own territory, thereby positioning it as a genuinely fresh and appealing take on the historical figure. However, the film introduces one such woman cast alongside him as Rashmika Mandanna, who plays the wife of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, Yesubai Bhonsale.

Helmed by Laxman Utekar, riding high after “Zara Hatke Zara Bachke” proved to be a comedy-romance hit in 2023, “Chhaava” unfortunately makes a hard swerve in his filmography from his earlier works: historical drama with a strong tilt of high stakes on powerful storytelling combined with big visuals. It is also fronted by a stellar ensemble cast, including Akshaye Khanna, Ashutosh Rana, Divya Dutta, and Neil Bhoopalam as a Mughal prince.

As the release date gets near, anticipation raised by “Chhaava” builds, as the audience is still waiting for a glimpse of Vicky Kaushal playing one of India’s most revered historical figures.
