On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas, Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid a visit to the Kargil War Memorial in Drass on Friday. In order to establish all-weather communication between Himachal Pradesh and Ladakh, Modi also virtually launched the tunnel’s first explosion.
In his remarks at the public gathering in Drass, Modi repeatedly attacked the opposition parties for their criticism of the Agnipath program and charged them of trying to undermine the Army. While at the Drass battle memorial, the prime minister also paid respects to the dead Kargil battle heroes.

- Prime Minister Narendra Modi began his speech by remembering the sacrifices of the Kargil War heroes. “Today marks the 25th anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas in this great land of Ladakh. He continued, “Kargil Vijay Diwas teaches us that the sacrifices made for the nation are immortal.”
- “As time passes, days turn into months, months into years, and years into centuries – the names of those who laid down their lives for the sake of national security remain etched in our collective memory, forever immortalised!” Modi said.
- Modi angrily declared that Pakistan “has not learned anything from history” in a jab at the neighboring nation. He declared, “All of Pakistan’s evil endeavors in the past have failed.” But Pakistan’s past has taught it nothing. Through proxy warfare and terrorism, it is attempting to remain relevant.
- The masters of terrorism are able to directly hear me from where I am standing. The enemy shall face a proper answer, and our bravehearts shall defeat terrorism,” the prime minister issued a warning.
- Modi further accused the opposition of attempting to mislead the nation’s youth by criticizing the Agnipath initiative. The prime minister declared, “This proves that they don’t care about the troops.”
- “These individuals are the same ones that misrepresented One Rank One Pension. One Rank One Pension was introduced by our government, which also awarded ex-servicemen around ₹1.25 lakh crore. These are the same individuals who declined to erect a war memorial.These same people failed to supply our forces stationed at the border with enough protective jackets. They are the ones who attempted to undermine our armed forces, Modi declared.

- Modi also praised the advancements made in Ladakh and Jammu & Kashmir following the region’s repeal of Article 370. “The tourism industry is expanding quickly in Ladakh and Jammu & Kashmir in addition to the construction of infrastructure. Kashmir now has a movie theater open after many years. It has been three and a half decades since Srinagar saw the first Tazia procession. He stated, “Peace and harmony are swiftly approaching in our earthly paradise.”
