Amala Paul Addresses Criticism Over ‘Inappropriate’ Outfit at Level Cross Promotions: ‘The Problem Lies With…’
Asif Ali and Amala Paul recently visited St. Albert’s College in Ernakulam, Kochi, to promote Level Cross, their next movie. When Amala was spotted wearing a short dress with a low neckline, the internet took offense and labeled it “inappropriate” and “indecent.” At a news conference, the actor addressed this issue, according to Onmanorama.
‘I wore what was comfortable’
Amala said that she only wore what she felt comfortable in and that she didn’t think it was improper when questioned about the criticism of her attire. She added that the problem was with how the cameras caught her in the first place. “The issue is with how my wardrobe was portrayed by the cameras,” she was cited as saying. I dressed in what fit me comfortably. I didn’t wear anything unsuitable for the occasion. The way the cameras projected my outfit was perhaps not proper. That’s not something I can control.
Amala further clarified that, despite what some people believe on the internet, the pupils didn’t find it awkward to see her wearing that clothing. “The students seemed completely at ease in my attire. I dress in everything from western to traditional attire. I wanted to give children confidence in their ability to dress whichever they choose by wearing that dress,” she continued.
Amala receives flak for her dress
Amala is occupied with marketing her Malayalam flick Level Cross, which opens in theaters this Friday. Amala gave birth to a child last month. People began making misogynistic remarks on social media as soon as videos and images of Amala wearing the garment appeared.

“There should be some minimum sense of the dress you wear in an educational institution, be it a part of promotion or any function,” says one remark on the video she posted in the dress. Someone else said, “Dress appropriately for an educational setting.” One wrote, “Fashion sense (cross emoji) common sense (tick emoji) Disappointed amala,” to convey their “disappointment.”
