Terrorists Attack Army Camp in J-K’s Rajouri, Massive Security Operation Launched
After terrorists fired at the Indian Army’s new camp in the Gundha Khawas area of Rajouri, Jammu and Kashmir, early on Monday morning, security authorities started a large search operation throughout the district. But the terrorists’ plan was thwarted by vigilant security personnel, and a gunfight broke out. “A significant act of terror against an Army picket in a remote village in Rajouri has been foiled,” said Lt Col Suneel Bartwal, a spokeswoman for the defense. The representative went on to say that the operation is ongoing and that firing is taking place. Officials have not yet confirmed reports of one soldier being hurt.
Terrorists attacked house of VDC member first
On Monday at 3:10 a.m., terrorists broke into the home of a Village Defence Guard (VDC) member in Gundha, Rajouri. There was a firefight when an Army force nearby responded. ‘X’ post from White Knight Corps stated that operations are still in progress. The first attack on VDG Parshottam Kumar’s house was directed towards him. He was most recently awarded the Shaurya Chakra by President Droupadi Murmu. The terrorists’ shooting killed a cow and injured his uncle, Vijay Kumar.
Only a few days prior, at a joint security review meeting with the Jammu and Kashmir Police, paramilitary groups, and intelligence agencies here at the police headquarters, Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi assessed the current security environment. The event that happened on Thursday in the Doda district resulted in the injuries of two Army personnel during a battle with militants.
Terrorists fired on a makeshift camp at a government school in Jaddan Bata hamlet at around two in the morning. Helicopter transport was used to transfer a seriously injured soldier to the Udhampur command hospital. In a different incident, late on Wednesday night, security guards in the Sunderbani region of Rajouri district, near the Line of Control (LoC), opened fire after observing suspicious activity. Authorities added that no evidence connected to the suspicious behavior was discovered during a search on Thursday morning.

Spike in terror activities in Jammu
Since the year’s commencement, over a dozen terror strikes in six districts of Jammu have claimed the lives of 27 individuals, including five terrorists, a village defense guard, and 11 security officials. Tuesday’s shootout in Doda district with heavily armed terrorists claimed the lives of four army troops, including an officer. The event happened one week after a terrorist ambush in the Machedi forest belt of Kathua district that left five soldiers dead and five wounded.
