Air India Flight Evacuates Team India Amid Hurricane Beryl in Barbados
To evacuate Team India amid Hurricane Beryl, a special Air India flight has touched down in Barbados. On this flight, the squad will return to India, according to the news agency. Hurricane Beryl, a category 4 hurricane, left Team India stuck in Barbados following their victory in the T20 World Cup in 2024. The BCCI organized the special Air India trip for the coaches, players, and their families to return to India.
Barbados, the site of Saturday’s thrilling World Cup final, had all of its airports closed due to Hurricane Beryl. South Africa was defeated by India to win the T20 championship. Tomorrow, on July 4, the Men in Blue are anticipated to touch down in Delhi. Members of the Indian media who traveled to cover the tournament but became trapped owing to the cyclone will also be transported on the special chartered flight organized by BCCI secretary Jay Shah, according to reports.

Due to Hurricane Beryl, Barbados enforced a curfew, which kept the squad, their families, coaches, and media members inside their hotels immediately after the T20 World Cup final. The availability of power and water was also impacted. A story of husband Jasprit Bumrah staring out their hotel window at a turbulent ocean was posted on Instagram by broadcaster Sanjana Ganesan on Monday.
