Kharge Criticizes PM Modi for Bringing Up ‘Emergency’: “How Long Do You Plan to Rule?”

In response to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s remarks on Monday concerning emergencies, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge questioned how long the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) intended to remain in power. “He’ll repeat this one hundred times. You are doing this without formally declaring an emergency. How much longer do you want to dominate by discussing this? It was reported that Kharge said

Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the media outside the new Parliament building earlier today and discussed the emergency before taking the oath of office as an MP. Speaking of the 21 months of emergency that were imposed during Indira Gandhi’s presidency, Modi said that the younger generation in India would never forget that period when the nation was turned into a jail and that they would take steps to create a vibrant democracy to ensure that such actions are never taken in India again.

Tomorrow is June 25th. June 25th marks the 50th anniversary of the stain placed on India’s democracy. The new Indian generation will never forget that democracy was stifled, the nation was converted into a prison, and the Indian Constitution was utterly rejected,” he declared. Kharge later claimed in a different tweet that while Prime Minister Modi was reminding people about the 50-year-old emergency, they had forgotten about the previous ten years’ “undeclared emergency.”

“You remind us of the 50-year-old Emergency, but have forgotten the recent 10-year Undeclared Emergency, which was ended by the people,” Kharge said on X. “The public has spoken out against Modi ji. In spite of this, he ought to work if he is to become prime minister.People want content, not catchphrases; keep this in mind for yourself.

According to Kharge, Modi gave a lengthier than usual traditional speech, but “the arrogance remains, even after the moral and political defeat.” The country was hoping that Modi would address some of the major challenges, he continued. According to Kharge, “He did not take any responsibility for the massive rigging and corruption of his government, but he will show some sympathy towards the youth regarding the paper leak in NEET and other recruitment examinations.”
