Chhota Rajan Convicted in Mumbai Hotelier Jaya Shetty Murder Case: Verdict Details Revealed
Gangster Chhota Rajan was found guilty on Thursday by a Mumbai court of killing hotelier Jaya Shetty in 2001. Later in the day, the court will probably announce the sentence’s length.
AM Patil, a special judge handling cases under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA), found Rajan guilty.
Who was Jaya Shetty?
The Golden Crown hotel in Gamdevi, central Mumbai, was owned by Jaya Shetty. The Chhota Rajan gang has been calling him for extortion.
On May 4, 2001, two suspected gang members shot and killed him inside his hotel.
The Maharashtra police had given him a security cover because of the threats. However, his security cover had been removed two months prior to the murder.
After being deported to India after to his arrest in Indonesia in October 2015, Chhota Rajan is currently incarcerated at Delhi’s Tihar Jail. For the murder of a journalist, Chhota Rajan is already serving a life sentence in prison.

Jaya Shetty was shot and killed by two shooters, according to report. One of the gunmen was apprehended after being pursued by the hotel’s management and staff member.
