IPL 2024: KKR Mentor Gambhir Defends Starc, Calls it Too Early to Write Him Off

Coach Gautam Gambhir of the Kolkata Knight Riders supported pacer Mitchell Starc, the team’s most expensive acquisition, with the expectation that the Australian will have an impact on the Indian Premier League in the future.

With an economy rate of 11.75, Starc has only claimed two wickets in his last four games. In the slam-bang version, Gambhir thought it was premature to write off the seasoned left-arm bowler.  It doesn’t make him a bad bowler after four games. I am aware of the impact he can have.

In a team sport, victories are what count. I think Starc has performed passably. He’s bowled some very difficult overs. Gambhir stated, “He will make an impact, what he has been picked for,” on the eve of KKR’s Eden Gardens home game against the Lucknow Super Giants.

Second-placed KKR, according to Gambhir, have to play well under any circumstances. “No matter how the start has gone, we have to keep getting better to win in a competition like this.”
