“RCB’s Title Drought Motivated Me to Take This Job,” Reveals Head Coach Andy Flower

The Women’s Premier League’s second season saw the Royal Challengers Bangalore (now Bengaluru) make history last week. The RCB, led by Smriti Mandhana, stormed to victory in the championship match, defeating Delhi Capitals and taking home the team’s first trophy. The victory has brought attention to the goals of the men’s team in addition to being a historic event for the women’s team. The men’s squad had fought so hard for sixteen seasons to win the Indian Premier League, and they had nearly done so several times, only to have heartbreak at the last hurdle.

While the women’s team celebrates their victory, all eyes are on Faf du Plessis’ men as they look to end RCB’s title drought by teaming up with Mandhana. The chance to work with Royal Challengers Bengaluru is more than simply a coaching assignment for the team’s head coach, Andy Flower; it’s an opportunity to lead the team towards the coveted IPL title that has eluded it for so long.

We have a very interesting collection of athletes. I believe our team is formidable. The RCB coach goes on, “We have had some amazing experiences in the locker room.

The squad has shown incredible resiliency since the crucial moment of Virat Kohli’s captaincy transition following the 2021 season. Under the leadership of Faf du Plessis, the club secured a postseason place in 2022 and nearly missed out on a top-four finish the following year.

The all-rounder Cameron Green, who joined the team from the Mumbai Indians, is one of the most notable additions to the RCB’s roster this season.
